About

Szu-Han "Zoe" Chen is a Taiwanese composer for film and media. She is passionate about crafting music that tells stories, and her musical ideas are deeply inspired by visuals, colors, and the emotional nuances underlying the narrative. With a background in classical violin performance, Zoe thoroughly enjoys exploring different musical genres and is excited about discovering new sounds through each of her scoring projects. Her scoring works have been featured at events such as DGA Student Film Awards Ceremony 2023, the Australian Women's Film Festival 2024, and the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival 2025. Her concert piece Chapter Fifteen (arragned for mixed ensemble) was selected as part of ASMAC Cue Connection Concert and performed by Helix Collective at Nathan Barr’s Bandrika Studios in 2025. Beyond scoring and composing, Zoe has also contributed to several sound installation art projects in collaboration with award-winning artist Ting-Jung Chen, with works exhibited in Taipei, Vienna, and Berlin.
Zoe holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in Violin Performance from Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she also studied music theory, composition, and improvisation. She graduated from New York University’s master’s Screen Scoring program in 2023. She is a recipient of the Alliance for Women Film Composers Scholarship for Joy Music House Score Production Workshop 2024.
